Hello Dr. Kohls!
I was on the zoom December 19th where you were talking with a guy from the Cobb County School District in GA. My name is William Lasko and I’ve thrown my hat in for school board here in Sparta Wisconsin. There are two seats and there are three of us running in which I may be the conservative of the three.
The board president is a conservative and expressed concern that of 7 board members only two are conservatives, he is one. He says he is out numbered and hopes a couple of conservatives get elected and then he suggested if I run based on my conservative views and failures of the school district that I would lose because the school district campaigns for the democrats in the schools and pushes them to vote democrat. Turnout in Spring elections is typically low and a month ago there wasn’t anything else being voted on, but that has changed greatly already. Anyway, I was very impressed with the zoom session. I was advised to run on teacher pay and benefits – something the teachers and staff could get behind.
I want to know more about Cobb County’s teacher retention practices and what all they do to keep their best teachers. Our District graduates at a rate of 98% while the students rank in the 14th percentile in Math and the 23rd percentile in Reading – that is atrocious!
Could you advise me here – I want to help turn this around. Enough is enough already!
