On Jan. 6, 2021, Nathaniel DeGrave walked in through the open doors of the U.S. Capitol to document the event for a podcast.
DeGrave was arrested for entering the Capitol. He is being held in pretrial detention with no bail at a Washington, D.C. jail. No trial date has been set.
The Gateway Pundit, which has reported extensively on the treatment of Jan. 6 detainees, noted: “After careful review of DeGrave’s Indictment, Statement of Facts and other court documents, defense attorneys familiar with the case say that the Department of Justice has not yet shown credible proof to substantiate any violence whatsoever on the part of DeGrave.”
In a letter to the American public, DeGrave detailed the horrendous conditions Jan. 6 political prisoners are facing in what many have termed the “American Gulag.”
“I understand that I write this letter at my own risk,” said DeGrave, a Las Vegas resident. “We are harshly disciplined for speaking out against the facility.”

Dear Fellow Americans –
I never thought I’d write a letter like this, but we’re living in very different times. This is my cry for help.
My name is Nathan DeGrave, and as a non violent participant at the Jan 6th rally, I’ve spent the last 9 months detained as a political prisoner in pod C2B at the DC DOC…otherwise known as DC’s Gitmo.
The conditions here for Jan 6ers have been inhumane. In fact, some inmates are even begging to be transferred to GUANTANAMO BAY, where even THEY have more acceptable standards.
Class action LAWSUITS are being filed against this prison; and even the ACLU has gotten involved. Senators Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene have since attempted to gain access to this facility and inspect the conditions of the jail, only to be denied.
The vile filth of what has become our daily life is being illegally HIDDEN from the members of OUR OWN CONGRESS.
So…let me tell you about what me and many of the other Jan 6ers have been experiencing in DC’s Gitmo. It is my hope that with MEDIA EXPOSURE and the awareness of the American public, that SOMETHING may be done and this never happens to anyone ever again.
OUR CONDITIONS
For the first 120 days in DC’s Gitmo, Jan 6ers experienced DAILY LOCKDOWNS for 23-24 HOURS before being allowed to leave our small 120 sq. ft cell. The PHYSICAL and MENTAL ANGUISH that results from this kind of SEVERE ISOLATION has caused many people to go on a RAPID mental decline.
As a result, a large percentage of us are HEAVILY MEDICATED with anti-anxiety and anti-depressant drugs, which helps to cope with the psychological and mental ABUSE we endure.
Many times, the little rec we DO receive is STRIPPED AWAY if our cell isn’t up to the standards of the guard on duty. This changes from day to day. Jan 6ers have lost rec time and out of cell activity ANY TIME news interviews about the jail are aired on TV, people speak up about our conditions, or rallies are held in our name. We’ll probably have a lockdown upon the publishing of this letter. So I have already warned those I know in advance..
Masks are WEAPONIZED and used against us, even though we NEVER leave the facility. Officers have walked in with the SOLE INTENTION of needing to write 20-30 disciplinary reports against Jan 6ers, which adversely effects our chances of release and causes loss of privileges, phone time and commissary. Masks need to be covering both the nose and mouth AT ALL TIMES or we are threatened and locked down in our cells. Jan 6ers are always respectful to the employees around us, but C.Os maintain the need to invent reasons for discipline.
PRIVILEGED LEGAL DOCUMENTS have been CONFISCATED and gone missing from various cells, and HIGHLY SENSITIVE discovery (video evidence under attorney/client privilege) is watched by employees during our legal calls.
Jordan Mink, for example, had all discovery TAKEN by ERT officers on August 23rd despite the objection of his attorney. They handcuffed him, searched his room, and then proceeded to take all video evidence in his possession. Additionally, legal visits take 2-3 WEEKS or more to be scheduled, leaving little time to discuss our defense and prepare for trial.
The EXTREME medical neglect in this facility has caused a variety of adverse illnesses and disease. Some show signs of scurvy. And some even have Covid like symptoms, but medical personnel have refused to treat it.
Christopher Worrell, for example, is an inmate with Cancer, who also broke his hand in prison and requires surgery. Both have been completely ignored. Federal judge Royce Lamberth got to the point where on October 12th, he filed contempt of court charges against the warden of the DC DOC, claiming that Worrell’s civil rights have been violated, and demanding the U.S attorney general inquire further about his and other possible violations.
Another inmate, Peter Stager, WAITED FOUR MONTHS to receive his CPAP breathing machine, and has needed an MRI since spring, which has also been ignored by staff.
The harsh, unlivable conditions of our unit has caused health hazards that defy Department of Health regulations. And on at least five occasions, RAW SEWAGE has overflowed our unit, causing human fecal matter to flood the floors and rooms. That’s also in addition to the MOLD on cell walls, as well as the rusty pipes, and DIRTY WATER that flows from these sinks. White rags TURN BROWN when exposed to the water from our faucets.
We are undergoing SEVERE NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES and STARVATION. For breakfast this morning, I received a tray of flavorless paste, two slices of bread, and a slice of bologna. Lunches usually consist of rice and beans, but we’ll get cold chicken/beef patties if we are lucky. For dinner, we are sometimes fed a diet of cheese sandwiches, and bologna and cheese 4 to 5 times per week.
Without commissary, people like myself are FORCED TO STARVE. I suffer from HEADACHES and NAUSEA on an almost REGULAR BASIS from the malnutrition and constant hunger I am subjected to. I have lost ALMOST 15 POUNDS since I’ve been detained.
Our rights to personal hygiene are also totally neglected. Razors are PROHIBITED, and inmates are forced to either go unshaved, and grow long beards, or use a razor free cream that BURNS and IRRITATES the skin. But many other jails have allowed the use of razors without incident. Haircuts are also PROHIBITED from unvaccinated inmates. For me, it’s been nearly 9 months. I look VIRTUALLY UNRECOGNIZABLE in the condition I’m in. I fear even my family would not recognize me.
Contact with the outside world, from legal visits to seeing loved ones is HIGHLY RESTRICTED. After in-person visits, legal or otherwise, we are forced to undergo humiliating STRIP SEARCHES, despite ALL visitors being thoroughly checked for contraband. If it’s a legal visit, we are placed in a 14 day quarantine, with no out of cell time; EVEN IF your attorney is VACCINATED and tests NEGATIVE for Covid. Visits with friends or family members, for unvaccinated inmates, are NEVER ALLOWED.
As a result, many people have skipped critical meetings with their council, and NEVER get an opportunity to see friends or family. VIDEO VISITATION, while available to the rest of the jail, is RESTRICTED in the Jan 6 pod. Mail is delayed for MONTHS, and phone calls are limited to a MAXIMUM of pre approved 12 numbers. If there’s anyone else in our extended family or otherwise we’d like to call, we’re pretty much out of luck.
RELIGIOUS SERVICES, protected by the 1st amendment, are NOT provided to Jan 6ers. Neither are in person classes or other activities available to the rest of the jail. An inmate named Ryan Samsel, instead attempted to organize his own bible study inside the pod, until he was viciously BEATEN and LEFT FOR DEAD by correctional officers. He suffered a broken eye socket and brain damage as a result of the vicious attack. He’s now permanently blind in one eye. On another occasion, Scott Fairlamb was confronted by an officer in the middle of the night, and his life was threatened, once the officer’s body cam was disabled. Many, like myself, are afraid they could be the next victim.
And last but not least, we experience racism from many guards on a daily basis, being the ONLY WHITE REPUBLICANS in the entire jail. The false narrative is has been passed around the jail and to corrections officers that we are “white supremacists” (we are NOT). The inmate population is predominantly black, so we are at risk being here because of this false narrative. The guards are mostly liberal migrants from Africa who have been conditioned to hate us, and hate America. Jan 6ers have been mocked, beaten and ridiculed by guards for singing the National Anthem. The Corrections Officers despise our politics and the love we have for this country. At one point, an officer even yelled “FUCK AMERICA!”, and threatened to lock us down FOR A WEEK if we attempted to sing the National Anthem again.
THE TRUTH ABOUT MY STORY
Finally, I feel like I should touch briefly on the government and prosecutor’s portrayal of who I am as a person.
No, I am not a terrorist, extremist or any of the other names I’ve been called by the government. More than anything, I am a red blooded patriot and I love this country more than anything.
I am being unfairly prosecuted and definitely overcharged. I never assaulted anyone, destroyed property, or stolen anything. I walked through wide open doors to enter the Capitol, along with my camera crew hoping to get the rally on video. I was never even armed at any point inside the Capitol.
Our goal was to make a documentary, and get likes and shares on social media. Yes I wore a costume (that the prosecutor refers to as paramilitary gear and body armor) but it was for the movie and was nothing of the sort.
And yet, 9 months later here I sit, with 10 years worth of charges and no hope for a future. The surveillance footage shows absolutely no signs of assault, and despite attempts by media companies to get it released to the public, the government has denied it.
I think that’s because they are fully aware that this footage is questionable at worst, and exonerates me at best. Please don’t be fooled by the media. I am a loving and peaceful person with no history of violence.
This weaponized DOJ and their blatant resentment of my respect for President Donald Trump is putting me in a situation that makes me feel helpless in my current situation.
Despite me and other Jan 6ers experiencing these unthinkable conditions, all of us remain POSITIVE and HOPEFUL that, in the end, JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL. We maintain a LOVE for this country and the Constitution like no other. The only thing keeping us going is our undying patriotism, the camaraderie between one another and our faith in God.
Please…SHARE THIS LETTER with EVERYONE you know: friends and family, senators, representatives, political organizers, civil rights groups and media outlets.
The truth HAS to get out. And the jail MUST PAY for what they are doing to this country’s citizens.
As a result of this unlawful detainment the last 9 months, I have lost everything. The successful business I spent 13 years of my life working on, my apartment in Las Vegas, social media accounts with a lifetime of memories…you name it.
The government has essentially CANCELLED ME. Not only that, but following the arrest, my best friend of 12 years robbed my apartment, stole my cat, and hacked my personal Instagram with 100,000+ followers.
Since then, I often go between feelings of hopefulness and moments of depression. I wonder if I can ever recover from this, but I have to remind myself to never give up.
There are major medical complications I now struggle with as a result of the jail’s neglect of my health since being here.
If there is any way I hope to recover, my only hope are the ones who are reading this. I was on top of the world once upon a time, and that life seems now only like a distant memory.
If there’s anything you can do to help, I would appreciate anything at all. Inmates here are being extorted with lack of nutrition, forcing me to spend most of what’s left on commissary which I can no longer afford.
I need desperate help with my legal expenses and just help staying alive in here with commissary and all the expenses I still have on the outside as my livelihood and life has been stripped away from me. Thank you for any her you can afford, even if it is a few dollars it goes a long way in here.

Letter to the Editor submitted to the Spirit of Jefferson and printed on September 15th, 2021 (this original version was slightly edited).
Last week, Edward Belmonte Jr., a health teacher at Jefferson High School was arrested after allegedly having sex multiple times, including inside a school closet, with a 17 year old student.
Notably, Belmonte testified that abstinence-centered education does not work and should not be taught at the January 11th Jefferson County Board of Education Meeting. He was responding to my comments about the importance of abstinence-centered health education.
What kind of person does not want school age youth to abstain from sex before marriage? We can see clearly in this case that it is a person who wants to have sex with underage children!
This is not the first time this has happened in Jefferson County and at Jefferson High School. In 2016, Joel Michael Ziler, a music teacher and choir director was convicted of having sexual relations with two female students. Other sexually related incidents where teachers where fired and their licenses were revoked occurred in Jefferson County in 2005, 2009, 2018 and 2019. Belmonte also is a graduate of Jefferson High School.
In my testimony at the January 11th Board of Education meeting, I shared:
“SIECUS promotes so called comprehensive sex education. That means that school age youth are not encouraged to abstain from sexual activity. Sexual exploration is seen as being healthy, as long as contraceptives are used.
This contrasts with abstinence-centered sexual health education, which is the real comprehensive sexual health education. This is because, sexual abstinence is stated as the expected standard for school age youth, in line with Federal Title V standards. Virtually 100% of parents agree with this approach.”
Urban Life Training, the nonprofit organization that my wife Stacey and I founded in 2003, has helped over 3000 students along the path to success by teaching the benefits of sexual abstinence before marriage. We would like to offer this program to all middle and high schools in Jefferson County that want it, free of charge to the schools.

We are in an unprecedented time in the United States where established safety protocols are not being followed as the COVID 19 Vaccine has been rolled out.
At the same time, there is a massive dis-information campaign going on in the main stream media. This is caused by the corruption of our political and regulatory system. Billions of dollars are being made as literally tens of thousands of United States citizens are killed. Frankly, this is murder by our own government agencies. Those responsible must be held accountable.
Another thread is the push to make these dangerous and deadly vaccines mandatory. Now, with FDA approval of the Pfizer biological product, the military is mandating all personnel to get the vaccine. As well, the Federal government is mandating that all workers get vaccinated or undergo repeated testing. New York City requires a vaccine card to dine out or go out for entertainment.
Let’s put this in perspective. In 1969, when a swine flu vaccine caused 3 deaths, the program was shut down in nine states. Fast forward to 2021. 13,068 deaths have been reported as of 8/26/2021. 54,142 hospitalizations have been reported. 81,850 serious adverse reactions have been reported. The actual number of deaths is at least 45,000, as reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
This is insane! How can this be? The main stream media, which makes billions of dollars from drug advertising, is colluding in suppressing this information, as well as information about early treatments that can be used at home, including vitamins, hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin and Azithromycin. In an interview with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Dr. Peter McCullough shared.
Robert F Kennedy, Jr.: What about vaccine injuries and deaths? Are you seeing any of those?
Dr. McCullough: The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System is the only source right now. Our US FDA and the CDC, which are the joint sponsors of the public vaccine program, which is an investigation. You know they have no critical event committee, they have no data safety monitoring board; they have no human ethics board. This is an abrogation of standards of safety for participants in human clinical investigations. It is the only time that I’m aware of that we haven’t seen the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) step in on this.
We should have had a data safety monitoring board, with the size of this program, doing monthly reviews of safety and giving advice to the program on whether or not it should continue. On whether or not there should be modifications in the program. There was no data safety monitoring board involved. Looking backwards, we had a mortality signal with this program at 27 million Americans vaccinated, on January 22 (2021). The mortality was 186 patients, and that would exceed a confidence above a usual expected for the entire class of injections at 150 deaths.
So at January 22nd, if we would have had a data safety monitoring board review the data, the DSMB would have shut this down in February. And they would have had to look at the deaths and say, ‘where are they happening?’ ‘Are they happening in COVID recovered patients who shouldn’t be receiving the vaccine?’ ‘Are they happening in the frail and elderly?’ They would have asked some questions.
And shockingly, we’re in August and our vaccine program sponsors, the FDA and the CDC have yet to have a single press briefing or a single report on comprehensive safety. All we have is the self-queried VAERS report…..
We are at, now, 13,000 deaths that the CDC has told us has happened. Over 200,000 emergency room visits, clinic visits. And we have separate external analysis…,that have shown that fifty percent of these deaths occur within two days of getting the vaccine, eighty percent occur within a week. Most are seniors in their 70’s or 80’s who die and 86 percent of the time there is no other explanation. Someone healthy enough to walk into a vaccine center has died.
Dr McCullough estimates that in Australia, for example, 100 times more people are dying from the vaccine than from COVID. Consider also, from the above interview, that the number of deaths so far, at 45,000 deaths is 250 times or 25,000 % greater than the normal threshold for stopping a vaccine program! Dr McCullough adds:
On two occasions the CDC has very casually put out on their website, one in March (2021) and one in June (2021); they’ve put out a statement that the CDC doctors and FDA doctors have reviewed all the deaths, and none of them are related to the vaccine. None, not a single one. You know, that includes these immediate deaths that occur in the vaccine center, where the vaccine personnel are doing CPR, for instance. They concluded, and I tell you, at that point, when that first statement came out in March, I have to tell you, for me, that was probably the turning point for me. I was already behind on the mortality signal. That January 22nd landmark, I missed it, clinically I just missed it. In the middle of March, when they made that statement, I realized that something was going on. It’s the hardest thing for Americans to swallow this, but that’s malfeasance. That’s wrongdoing by those in position of authority. The FDA and the CDC in no way could have reviewed 1600 deaths. That takes forever.

It’s also worth noting that had there been an existing, known, safe and effective treatment for COVID-19, emergency use authorization of a vaccine for the virus would be prohibited by law. Could that have been part of the motivation for the strange censorship of certain COVID-19 treatments that we witnessed over the past year at news and social media corporations? I’d like to know. I’d also like to know why so few journalists seem to report on what is happening at the human level, opting instead to report what a bureaucrat tells them. Today I send courage to corporate journalists everywhere, to ask the tough questions, seek the truth and demand that their corporate bosses publish the truth.
In light of the above knowledge, we must resist vaccine mandates with all of our being. Do not allow your job to mandate the vaccine. Request a religious exemption. More information is here and here. - Not one person has been charged with bringing a firearm into the US Capitol. The only person injured or killed by a firearm was United States veteran Ashley Babbitt, who was murdered by a still unnamed US Capitol Police officer.
- These prisoners are being held as political prisoners of the Biden Administration. Julie Kelly at American Justice shared on the Mark Levin show: “The US government, Joe Biden’s Justice Department, is holding political prisoners in a jail in Washington DC opened up to house January 6th defendants awaiting trial. They’ve been denied bail. They’re living in harsh, almost solitary confinement conditions in this jail….This is a political persecution against Trump supporters.”
Regarding Black Lives matter protestors in places like Portland Oregano she says “They’re not only not being rounded up, their cases are being dropped; their records are being expunged.” - Most of those arrested were simply walking around in the US Capitol building. They were not destroying anything or committing any altercations. Over 600 people have been charged as of August 4th, 2021 The most common charge is “Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted; building or grounds without lawful authority; disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly or disruptive conduct on Capitol grounds; parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.” In other words, the supposedly riotous insurrectionists were walking around the US Capitol Building, even being directed by Capitol Police officers. The prosecutor in charge, Michael Sherwin, called this a “Shock and Awe” operation. In other words it is political persecution of Donald Trump supporters by the Biden Administration.
- Capitol Police let protestors into the US Capitol. For example, Michael Curzio was arrested and detained for more than six months. He has now been released. Curzio stated on Dinesh D’Souza’s show: “I walked through a door where there was approximately six officers standing 20 feet away from it, that we’re just letting people walk in. And nobody told us to stop. Nobody told us to leave…”
Since the Capitol Police let the protestors in, as seen in numerous videos, and as would be seen on the so far unreleased Capitol security videos, why are protestors being charged with trespassing? This is clear entrapment. - The US Capitol Police and the FBI knew there would be trouble, and they decided not to prepare properly. Why? Who told the US Capitol Police to effectively stand down?
Recently, US Representatives Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor-Greene and Louie Gohmert were denied entrance to the DC Jail. What are the DC jailors hiding?
This entire investigation is backwards. The still unnamed officer who murdered Ashli Babbitt should be investigated and his name revealed. The FBI informants who are unindicted coconspirators should be investigated for possible charges of entrapment. Whoever issued the stand down order at the US Capitol, such as Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi should be investigated. In addition to the officer who murdered Ashli Babbitt, the Capitol Police should be investigated for possible collusion in the false flag entrapment operation, such as letting in protestors and allowing them to visit various areas of the US Capitol building. Show us the US Capitol security footage to prove that this is not true.

Speaker Pelosi’s role in calling the shots on Congressional security was confirmed by the now-resigned House Sergeant at Arms. It is clear that the Democrats knew that there would be an explosive situation outside the Electoral College as early as March of 2020.
It is not indisputable that the Capitol Police and National Guard were told not to do their jobs effectively by being issued “stand down” orders from their leaders.
There are also reports that Capitol Police fired incendiary tear gas canisters and possibly committed other abuses while protestors were gathering and before any kind of altercation occurred. Show us the US Capitol security footage if this is not true. What are the Capitol Police hiding?

The infection fatality rate from COVID-19 for those under age 70 is .05%, or about half that of the seasonal flu. 11405 deaths as a result of COVID have been reported as of 7/26/2021, but the real number is at least five times more.

Please take a few moments to consider the following facts:
- If you are younger than 70 years old, COVID is less deadly than the seasonal flu, with an infection fatality rate of .05%, or 5 out of every 10,000 people infected dying. For comparison, seasonal flu has an infection fatality rate of about 0.1% or twice as high. For people of all ages, the infection fatality rate is .23%.
Amazingly, flu cases in the 2020 to 2021 season were almost zero. What happened? Flu cases were counted as COVID cases. - The above assumes that COVID deaths are reported accurately, which they are not. Only 6% of COVID deaths are from COVID only. There are some 2.8 comorbidities for the average COVID death. Even some vehicle accident deaths have been counted as COVID deaths.
If standards for reporting COVID deaths had not been changed, there would never be any crisis. - The PCR test is virtually useless (except as a scare tactic) in its current form. Finding fragments of COVID or another Corona virus does not mean you have COVID. For cycle thresholds up to 17, the test is accurate. However, different tests in the United States (and elsewhere) used 35 to 40 cycles. False positives are 80% for 33 cycles and near 100% (false) for over 34 cycles. This is a complete scam. The tests are picking up fragments of viruses, not an infectious disease.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have now changed the criteria for so-called breakthrough cases (cases in fully vaccinated individuals) to 28 cycles from a previous value of 40 cycles.
- The vaccine is a new, untested technology, and is only approved under emergency authorization
- No one knows the long term effects of having spiked proteins created by the experimental mRNA vaccines in our body:
- Could have many unwanted effects, like causing auto immune diseases. They collect in and clog the small capillaries in our bodies.
- There are already 11,405 reported deaths and 36,117 serious adverse reactions requiring hospitalization from COVID vaccines as of July 26, 2021. According to a confidential informant at the CDC, the actual number is at least five times higher, thus 57,025 COVID vaccine deaths and 180, 585 serious COVID vaccine injuries requiring hospitalization.
- No one knows the long term effects of having spiked proteins created by the experimental mRNA vaccines in our body:
- The Big medical Mafia and Big Fake Media are complicit in COVID fear mongering and disinformation.
a. Consider Dr. Paul Thomas, of Oregon, a pediatrician whose license was suspended from December 2020 until June 2021 for the crime of publishing the truth that unvaccinated children in his practice are much healthier than vaccinated children.
b. Television stations make a large amount of money from drug advertising.
c. Pharma companies make huge profits from COVID vaccines, without any legal liability for COVID vaccine injuries. Even the insufficient compensation provided by the so-called vaccine court that applies to other vaccines does not apply to COVID vaccine injuries.
America’s Frontline Doctors have filed a lawsuit on July 21, 2021 asking for an immediate stop to Emergency Use Authorization for COVID vaccines for three groups:
- Young people age 18 and under, who are statistically at 0% risk of dying, and who also do not spread COVID to adults
- All those who have already recovered from COVID-19. Natural immunity is superior to manufactured immunity. Many who have already had COVID become seriously ill after receiving the vaccine
- Every other American who has not yet received informed consent, as defined by Federal law. Recipients have to be of an age to make informed decisions and must be provided with all the risk/benefit information.
COVID-19 is real, but the epidemic is concocted to create fear and to cow citizens into accepting government control of our minds and bodies No government authority or business should determine what is injected into you or your child’s body. Say NO! Enough is enough.
